Shorter Tech Park Open House

The Town of Shorter is once again celebrating a milestone in its development efforts.  Continuing the break neck pace of development, the west Macon community is preparing to hold an open house at its newly completed industrial building in the Shorter Tech Park along Halla Bama Dr.

The building is a 40,000 sq. ft structure with 35 foot ceilings with heavy crane bearing capacity.  The building is easily convertible to up to 100,000 sq. ft. of production space and is located on a 14 acre tract of land.  It also has water, sewer, natural gas and high speed internet immediately available for new industrial tenants.

The structure was originally built to house Taesung Alabama, a planned supplier to the Hyundai chain, but was later changed into a speculative facility for other industrial use due to Taesung’s inability to meet the stringent supplier requirements for its producers.  With the retooling completed and initial construction finished as well, the Town of Shorter and Macon County Economic Development Authority are actively marketing the facility to other potential clients.

The open house is scheduled to be held on Friday, September 12th from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the facility.  Refreshments and site information will be provided and a brief update on economic development activity across the County will be conducted by Macon County Economic Development Director Joe Turnham.  The event is open to the public.  Special invitations have been sent to State and local economic development officials.

The facility is a major plus for Shorter/Macon County and is certain to be another positive piece of the economic development puzzle of the area.  In the coming months, more Macon County residents will be able to celebrate having a job and improving the future for their family.  Just another sign of progress in Shorter and Macon County.
